The triple moon symbol represents the 3 phases of the moon: waxing, full and waning. Some believe that witches would perform different kinds of magic during the different moon phases:

  • Waxing: new beginnings, new life, and rejuvenation
  • Full moon: the time when magic is at its most potent and powerful
  • Waning: a time to do banishing magic and to send things away

The Triskelion has been around since Neolithic times. It has been used and 'claimed' by a variety of groups through history and so has a variety of meanings: from life, death and rebirth to past, present and future. Here at Shire we are using the meaning ‘family’: father, mother and child/ren.

The Goddess represents fertility: new life, healing and the mother of all things. Some believe it represents Eastre or Gaia. The Goddess symbolises all the regenerative, life-giving and creative energies of the universe, so she is associated with Earth, motherhood, love and the household. As the keeper of wisdom, the Goddess is the spirit of both Earth and the Heavens.

This wrap was my very first woven wrap. The design spoke to me of how I feel about motherhood and myself as a woman. When it arrived I was first struck by the vivid colours in the wrap which are deep and luxurious and the yellow edging gave the wrap an almost ancient pagan gown like feel. In fact the first thing I did was drape it around myself like a gown. I thought the muslin dyed in the same colour used to encase the wrap as a package was a great idea and a lovely touch and I now use it all the time to create neck support with my wrap. Myself and my daughter enjoyed breaking in the wrap.using it as a gammon swing for her at kne point. It’s a strong wrap thst will take lots of hard wear and tare. It wraps solidly and doesn’t budge or slacken once tied. The colon is great for all seasons and easy to care for. This wrap will always hold a special place in my heart

The Pagan Goddess was the first woven wrap i used to wrap my baby, i borrowed it from my local sling library. I must say it set the bar high from a personal point of view and now nothing much compares to a shire. I cant reccomend them enough! Strong, sturdy, smooth and easy to wrap with. I love the fact that every wrap tells a story and has true meaning behind the design.

Loved this design and the strong colours- reinforces that mothers are strong! It has been a bit of a beast to break in but good things are worth waiting for! It is super strong and very toddler-worthy . Having the coloured band on one rail is helpful as it makes it easy to check for twists and turns when trying new moves!!
